Japan Chapter of System Dynamics Society (JSD) organized the symposium on “Model Analysis of Sustainable Urban Development” with cooperation of Transportation Research Center of Graduate School of Science and Technology, Nihon University and Japan Association for Human and Environmental Symbiosis (JAHES) on September 19, 2014 at Surugadai campus of College of Science and Technology, Nihon University.
After opening remarks by Dr. Atsushi Fukuda, professor of Nihon University and the secretary general of JSD, Dr. Günter Emberger, professor of Vienna University of Technology, Austria introduced MARS (Metropolitan Activity Relocation Simulator) and its applications on his keynote lecture. Dr. Atsushi Suzuki, associate professor of Meijo University, Nagoya, Japan, Dr. Mikiharu Arimura, associate professor of Muroran Institute of Technology, Hokkaido, Japan and Dr. Varameth Vichiensan, assistant professor of Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand delivered the lectures on compact city and its influence on accessibility in different cities. Then, Dr. Tetsuhiro Ishizaka, assistant professor of Nihon University, Chiba, Japan introduced “Research Trend of System Dynamics on Analysis of Urban Development in Japan”.
At the end of this symposium, Dr. Yoshitsugu Hayashi, Professor of Nagoya University, Nagoya, Japan and the president of JAHES moderated the panel discussion with Dr. Günter Emberger, Dr. Atsushi Suzuki, Dr. Mikiharu Arimura and Dr. Varameth Vichiensan. Possibility of model analysis of sustainable urban development was discussed on this session. Finally, Dr. Akira Uchino, professor of Senshu Niniversity and the president of JSD had closing remarks.
