Abstract for: Natuaral Gas Shortage Dynamics in Argentina

This paper presents a system dynamic model of Argentina’s gas industry. Through our analysis we explore various factors affecting supply and demand of natural gas and analyze causes of gas shortages in Argentina. Our analysis shows that the wellhead price of gas in Argentina seems to be the main driver of supply and demand and higher-price imports may be preferred in times of economic upheaval and increases per capita consumption as opposed to local exploration, financially regulated by the government.
